Nazir Tanbouli

Nazir Tanbouli added this typically lively drawing  in black ink, to the book. Known for his murals and wall art featuring strong narrative content, punctuated with text and a sense that the image is one part of storyboard- there is always more to find out.....
For more information about his work see http://www.nazirtanbouli.com

Nazir is also involved with http://www.studio75.org.uk/ an artist run space  in East  London, for artists to produce, discuss and present their work and presents exhibitions, screenings and events.

Nine Journeys Project

This project originated with me, Carole King, whose fine art practice is concerned with maps and the landscape. My previous work has used various media, painting and printmaking including blacklight, illuminated installations, to create 2D images.
The use of individual books as the vehicle for making work and the concept of artists books which
are usually created by one maker working around a specific theme or idea, has been perverted in this project. The content of these books will be a collaborative project, its diverse contents largely determined by chance.
Nine similar concertina books have been dispatched en-route around the world. Think of the book as taking a journey, encountering people and places on its way, making notes as it goes. The recipient has been asked to complete a single page, photographs or scan it contents (which they email back to me) and send it on to a new location. The books are linked to this blogsite, which will document their real time progress and location.

The books will be dispatched shortly and, just as on preview night, I am wondering what the response will be.

Concertina Books

Nine  books have now been constructed and are ready to go.Just smaller than A5 they will easily go straight into a standard envelope. They have 6 spaces each side of the concertina folds plus 2 inside covers.
I still have to finalise my list of the first group of artists and writers to receive them and the information to accompany the books.
