The Firmament
Nicola has added her piece to Book 4 which has until now been based in the South of England- she tells me that it is now travelling to Leeds for her daughter to add a piece. Many thanks Nicola- why not check out her links - really interesting pieces on her website.

Ann Bridges - Peacock Feathers

Book 2 started its journey in North Wales in the hands of Ann Bridges.

In 2009 I was curating 'Lines and Strata 2' -contemporary welsh drawing in its widest sense. We aimed to include pieces by a wide range of artists, many of which challenged  accepted ideas of what drawing might be.  Buttons (seen here in the Lines and Strata  blog) was submitted by Ann for the show and was one of the more unusual pieces to be included.

Since that time I have enjoyed getting to know her and her work -- her printmaking
skills  show a love of colour and a sensitivity to the materials- a feast for the eyes. Ann will be at Printfest in Ulverston during early May this year when around 40 fabulous printmakers gather to show their work.

Ruth Watherston

Ruth Watherston works in a diverse range of media and so I was intrigued to see what she would add to book 4. I can't wait to see this piece close up in my hands which won't happen until the book finally returns to Wales, fully completed. i like the way she has extended it onto both sides of the page.

Previous work includes 'Sheep'  made from rubber bands which dotted the grass  and intrigued visitors at the Henley Arts and Music Festival in 2004 (I have seen smaller versions which moved under remote control) . Since then Ruth has continued recycling domestic objects with results somewhere between whacky furniture and soft sculpture

Hares - Ronnie Creswell

Ronnie's contribution to Book 4 is typical of her analytic approach. She works in a wide range of media including photography, painting and drawing media to create final pieces in both digital and more in more traditional manner.
Subject matter is predominantly the natural world with the landscape featuring in many of her pieces.
Who else can remember her slide dissolve of all the bridges on a long train journey or photographs taken from the back of her partners motorbike.

Ronnie Creswell is now based in Dorset having completed a BA in Fine Art at the Surrey Institute in Farnham.

Gaynor McMorrin - film

Gaynor McMorrin has included this 'still' from a film originally created for 'Lines and Strata 2' - a travelling exhibition of contemporary drawing in Wales (see http://linesandstrata.wordpress.com/ ) which featured work across a wide variety of drawing techniques.
Gaynor uses the rhythm of the waves on on her local beach combined with the landscape of the human body to create a short film. This still features one of her small ceramic sculptures of a sleeping figure.
This book is currently en-route to Japan for the next stage of its journey
